TdF #7: Team Green

July 7, 2013

Sagan may have taken the stage win but it was certainly a team effort. Sagan also takes a commanding lead in the points competition and will surely win it if he reaches Paris.

All week we have seen what a difference team work makes. Almost every stage has been decided by the strength and organisation of the team. Today’s effort by Cannondale was the most impressive. They set too high a pace up the Cat 2 climb for the pure sprinters like Cav, Greipel and Kittel to handle and maintained the speed to prevent them coming back afterwards. Even which they had all been soundly dispatched, Cannondale just switched to lead out mode and Sagan easily finished it off.

No trouble for my group of favourites as they all finished in the leading group. The yellow jersey holder Impey also finished without losing time so will enjoy one more day in the lead.
