TdF Stage 18 Blagnac – Brive-la-Gaillarde

July 29, 2012

Another day for Sky to celebrate. They had Boassen-Hagen in the break so did not need to do much work in the peleton. The break looked like having a good chance to make it, especially as there was no strong lead out from the sprinters’ teams. Even when the break was caught, there were a lot of attacks. Roche and Leon Sanchez very nearly made the line.

Then came the Sky machine. Wiggins himself did a huge pull on the front of the peleton and Cavendish launched from a long way back. He went screaming past Roche and won by several lengths. Cav’s tour has been very different from the last few years but he is still winning. What an amazing sprinter.
